Ann was born in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, in 1963. She came to the U.S. as a Rotary exchange student and stayed to complete a degree in Accounting. We met while she was doing post-baccalaureate work in Computer Science and quickly became close friends. After a couple years of friendship, the relationship blossomed and we were married in 1989. Ann completed her degree in Computer Science and has worked in the field ever since.

Alan was born in Olney, OK in 1946. I completed degrees in Mathematics & Physics and Computer Science and spent more than 20 years in the Marines and Air National Guard flying the A-4, F-4, and F-16 (more here). I was a college professor in Computer Science, a department chairman, and co-founder of what later became a campus of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, AR. I’ve published two books: Business @ the Speed of Stupid and my latest, I Quit!  Finally, I’ve spent the past 15 years in consulting with a focus on IT strategy.

Muffin is a rescue animal of unknown breed and origin. The vet guesses she is Maltese Poodle and terrier, probably Border Terrier, but that’s a guess. We believe her to be about 5 years old. There’s a photo of her on the home page.

Tuppence, our kitty of 17 years who you see on the home page, passed away a few months ago. I guess I should remove her photo from our home page but I’m just not ready to let her go. We miss her a lot.

This wouldn’t be complete without introducing the newest member of our family, which we’ve named “Imoto Ikhaya,” meaning, loosely translated, “motorhome” in Zulu. We call her Ikhaya. She was born at the Newmar factory in Nappanee, IN, in 2003. And she’s a sweetheart.
